Sex Therapy in Singapore - Sexuality & Intimacy Coaching

Sex therapy, also known as sex counselling, is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on addressing sexual health and wellness issues, as well as promoting healthy sexual functioning and relationships.

Sex therapy is a confidential, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that helps individuals and couples address sexual concerns—such as low desire, pain, performance anxiety, arousal or orgasm difficulties, and intimacy blocks. In Singapore, accredited sex therapists provide structured assessment, skills training, and gentle exercises to restore comfort, pleasure, and connection.

It typically involves working with a trained therapist, such as a licensed / registered psychologist or sexologist, who has expertise in human sexuality and sexual health. Through sex therapy, individuals and couples can gain a better understanding of their sexual health, improve communication and intimacy, and develop healthy and fulfilling sexual relationships.

It's important to note that sex therapy is a talk-based therapy, fully clothed, and does not involve any physical or sexual contact. It's a safe and confidential space to discuss sexual concerns and work towards finding solutions. Your therapist will: (1) take a history and clarify goals, (2) offer education and practical skills, (3) teach communication tools, and (4) set gentle at-home exercises (e.g., sensate-focus, graded exposure, mindfulness) at a pace that feels safe for you.

Sex therapy can help individuals and couples address a wide range of issues, including:

  • Sexual orientation and gender identity concerns

  • Sexual functioning (e.g. premature/delayed ejaculation, erectile disfunction, low libido)

  • Sexual pain or discomfort (e.g. vaginismus)

  • Body image issues

  • Sexuality around ageing

  • Intimacy and chronic illness or disabilities

  • Relationship intimacy issues (including infidelity, open relationships, etc.)

  • Trauma and sexual abuse

What is Sex Therapy?

How Many Sessions?

Many clients notice improvement in 6–12 sessions, usually weekly or fortnightly. Shorter work is possible for single-issue concerns; longer support may be helpful when anxiety, pain conditions, or relationship patterns are involved. Your plan is reviewed regularly and tailored to progress and comfort.
