Gottman Marathon Couples Therapy

The Gottman Marathon Couple Therapy is a focused, two-day program designed for couples who want to make significant progress in a short time. Instead of spreading sessions over weeks, this intensive format allows for deeper exploration and breakthrough moments within a supportive and structured setting.

Over two full days, you’ll work closely with a therapist through three 2-hour sessions per day (a total of 12 therapy hours), with two 1-hour breaks daily for rest and reflection. The extended format allows space for both emotional depth and practical skill-building without feeling rushed.

Before the program begins, both partners will complete the Gottman Couple Check-Up Questionnaire (to be done at least three days before), giving a detailed picture of your relationship’s strengths and challenges. Upon registration, you’ll also receive access to the Gottman Relationship Builder, a digital library of tools and exercises to support growth before, during, and after the marathon.

After completing the two-day program, couples have the option to continue with the same therapist for ongoing weekly or biweekly sessions, helping you integrate changes, strengthen communication, and sustain progress over time.

  • Marathon Couples Therapy is an intensive, focused two‑day program built on the Gottman Method.

Rather than meeting weekly over months, couples spend concentrated time together in therapy over a short period to dive deeply into relationship issues. Over these two full days, the format allows for both emotional exploration and practical skill‑building in a structured, supportive environment.

  • Pre‑work / Assessment: Before the program starts, both partners complete a Gottman Couple Check‑Up Questionnaire to identify relationship strengths and areas to work on.

Therapy Days: Over two full days, you’ll have three 2‑hour therapy sessions each day (for a total of 6 hours/day, 12 therapy hours overall), with breaks for rest and reflection.

During sessions: The therapist guides conversations focused on your relationship’s core issues, conflict patterns, communication, and emotional injuries. You’ll engage in exercises, skill‑building, and deep conversations that traditional weekly therapy may not have time for.

Follow‑up: After the marathon, you’ll have the option to continue with ongoing weekly or biweekly sessions. These help integrate what you’ve worked through, reinforce new patterns, and sustain progress over time.

  • Marathon Couples Therapy is especially helpful for couples who:

    • Want to make meaningful progress in a short time.

    • Want to deepen connection, rebuild trust, and better understand each other’s emotional patterns.

  • In your two‑day marathon:

    • You’ll have twelve therapy hours total, spread over two full days.

    • Each day consists of three sessions of approximately two hours each (3 × 2 hours = 6 hours/day).

    • There are also two 1‑hour breaks per day to allow rest, reflection, integration.

  • Some of the key benefits include:

    • Deeper emotional work

    • Faster progress than weekly sessions

    • Focused skill‑building

    • Better conflict resolution and communication

    • Increased relational resilience
