Neuropsychological Assessments
Neuropsychology is the study of brain-behaviour relationships. During a neuropsychological screen, the Psychologist assesses the individual’s intelligence, academic achievement, personality, attention, memory, visual-spatial ability, planning, and psychomotor abilities. The purpose of a neuropsychological assessment is to be able to define an individual's pattern of cognitive strengths and weaknesses relative to his or her own ability as well as compared to sample of same-aged peers. Generally, the medical history (i.e., relevant medical records), a clinical interview (which may include family members, such as parents or spouse or partner), behavioural observations, and use of psychological tests are needed for a neuropsychological assessment.
