This 8-session group will provide support, understanding and help to women struggling with alcohol usage. Participants will get the chance within a confidential and emotionally safe environment to share their experience with alcohol and to learn how to deal better with their dependency.
Inspired by the well-known 12 steps program, the group will use some techniques from EMDR, CBT and relaxation to manage stress from the present and from their past.
We will:
- examine the history and background of the participants’ alcohol usage.
- provide education about alcohol and alternative coping skills, including relaxation techniques.
- work together on self-limiting and negative beliefs.
Each participant will gain insight and support from other participants.
For this first 8 sessions, the group will focus on facing their individual struggles with alcohol, dealing with associated emotions, and learning to utilize different resources that will support them facing alcohol dependency.
This group is suitable for any participant who admits she has a struggle with alcohol, who wants to understand about her drinking habits and change them.
